Andrew Reynolds pledges new support for local disability charity at Birthday celebrations
Andrew Reynolds visited Disability Initiatives headquarters in Camberley with a cheque for £30,000.00 as the charity celebrated its 35th Birthday with a Royal visit and karaoke.
As well as its anniversary, the charity was also celebrating 10 years of being in the purpose built centre which the charity’s patron The Countess of Wessex and her husband Prince Edward officially opened.
Disability Initiative (DI) supports physically disabled people in the area offering a range of activities, training and rehabilitation support. Andrew Reynolds has supported the charity for the last 4 years after reading of a plea for financial support in the local paper. In 2007, Andrew funded a range of equipment for the centre and also has continued to fund their activity programme each year.
Andrews latest donation of £30,000.00 to the charity will help fund a new initiative to enable the charity to reach more physically disabled people across a wider geographical area and will provide a foundation for a satellite scheme which will enable the charity to start operating day centre resources in nearby towns.
Andrew said, ‘I am very excited by this latest support programme developed by the team at Disability Initiative and jumped at the opportunity to help fund the programme to ensure that it could begin as soon as possible. ‘
Lucy Brown, Chief Executive of DI added, ‘ Andrews on-going generosity and commitment to the charity allows us to push the boundaries and enable us to reach out to people who currently do not access a service such as the one we provide here at DI.’
During the 35th Birthday celebrations at the charities headquarters Andrew was able to discuss with The Countess of Wessex how his funding has helped the charity over the last four years and demonstrate an interactive white board he funded which aims to assist with the teaching and education of IT skills to the charities users.
