Andrew Reynolds continues support of local hospice.

Andrew Reynolds has pledged a further £185,000.00 to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham over the next 3 years to continue to help fund the on-going Community ‘Clinical Nurse Specialist’, (CNS) team that Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, (PTH,) provide.

The CNS Nurse team, with original funding from Andrew Reynolds was set up in 2007 and gave PTH the ability to go out and treat patients in their homes within the local community providing specialist palliative care services to patients and their families at home for as long as possible. The team also provided CNS support for Nursing Homes, GP’s District Nurses etc. to increase the ‘end of life’ skill level for clinical staff already working in the local community.

Initially recruiting staff and securing funding for posts was a stumbling block for the project to take off so Andrew Reynolds agreed to finance the running of one of the CNS Teams for 3 years in 2007 at just over £56,000 a year, directly funding a Specialist Nurse Team, a Vehicle and equipment such as Laptops. Mobile Phones etc.
Due to the success and demand of the CNS team in its first 3 years Andrew Reynolds kindly agreed to continue funding for a further 3 years.

Andrew Reynolds commented about his latest on-going support with PTH: ‘What is really special about the PTH is the fact that they offer such amazing care, their facilities are of the highest standard and on my first visit I was struck by how ‘un hospice’ it felt – the whole place had a warm friendly feel and everywhere you looked were home comforts”. Andrew Reynolds said – “when I met the staff and patients you couldn’t help to notice how high the standard of care was – I was genuinely bowled over by how the whole organisation had exceeded my expectations.’

‘After learning that they developed the Community Nursing Initiative but wouldn’t be able to roll out a 3 year pilot without any funding I felt I had to get involved. As a successful business we are always on the lookout on how we can get involved in the community, but more importantly find ways where our support is directly measurable and not lost in capital projects which is sometimes the case.’

Reflecting on the impact the CNS Community team has made in its first 3 years Andrew Reynolds added:
‘The success of the CNS team in its first 3 years and the positive impact it has had on not only the local community but also further outreaching to existing care services offering further support and education, proves what a worthy initiative this was and I am extremely happy to continue funding this much needed community nursing team for the next 3 years.’
